This guide is for teams searching FBR e invoicing, FBR digital invoicing, or how to integrate digital invoices with FBR in Pakistan. It outlines the official path, what software does, and where a licensed integrator may still be required under FBR rules.
1. Confirm you must e-invoice
Sales-tax registered persons covered by FBR digital invoicing notifications (including work under SRO 709) must issue electronic sales tax invoices in real time — not paper-only or PDF-only invoices without an IRN. Check the latest FBR notices for your sector and registration type.
2. Register in IRIS and enable digital invoicing
Log in to the IRIS portal with your NTN, open Digital Invoicing, and complete API integration steps. Generate a sandbox bearer token first. Our register digital invoice walkthrough and IRIS token article cover the clicks.
3. Choose how you connect to PRAL
- Build in-house — direct PRAL Digital Invoicing API client (engineering cost, ongoing maintenance)
- Licensed integrator — required or preferred for some deployment models per FBR; confirm on current guidance
- FBR digital invoice software — cloud dashboard (and often REST/webhooks) using your IRIS token, e.g. FBR Digital Invoicing
4. Test scenarios in sandbox
Run every invoice scenario that applies to your business. Fix validation errors before production. See sandbox vs production.
5. Go live with production token
Switch to your production bearer token, validate, then submit. Store IRN, USIN, and QR on each invoice and on PDFs you give customers. Use FBR invoice integration docs if you automate via API.
6. Operate day to day
Maintain buyer NTN libraries, watch for FBR API changes, and train staff on validate-then-submit. Common pitfalls are in our 10 mistakes article.
